Sericulture Assam Admission 2026 :- The Directorate of Sericulture, Government of Assam has invited applications for admission into the One-Year Certificate Course offered by the Sericultural Training Institute (STI), Titabor for the academic session 2026-27. Eligible Higher Secondary Science (HS Science) students with Biology can apply for this professional certificate course.

The Sericultural Training Institute is one of the oldest and most prestigious sericulture training institutes in India. Established to produce skilled technical manpower for the silk industry, the institute provides both theoretical and practical training in Mulberry, Eri, Muga and Tasar Sericulture.

About Sericulture Assam

Assam is internationally known for its rich silk heritage, particularly Muga, Eri, and Mulberry Silk. The Directorate of Sericulture plays an important role in developing skilled manpower through various training programmes designed for students, extension personnel, farmers, entrepreneurs and sericulture professionals.

The department regularly conducts structured training programmes to improve technical knowledge, scientific skills and practical experience in silk production and post-cocoon technologies.

About Sericultural Training Institute (STI), Titabor

The Sericultural Training Institute, Titabor was established during 1944-45 and later upgraded into a full-fledged training institute. It is considered one of the oldest sericulture training institutes in India and is the only institute in North-East India providing specialized education in Vanya Silk (Muga and Eri) along with Mulberry Sericulture.

Initially the institute offered certificate training for matriculates. Later, diploma courses were introduced before being shifted to Mysore as per Government policy. Since 1997-98, the One-Year Certificate Course has been offered for HS Science students with Biology.

The institute functions under the Directorate of Sericulture, Government of Assam and provides modern infrastructure, experienced faculty and practical exposure in various aspects of silk production.

Sericulture Assam Admission 2026 Process

Step 1: Obtain application form from Directorate of Sericulture website or through the Principal, STI, Titabor

Step 2: Submit filled application form in hard copy to:
Principal, Sericultural Training Institute, Titabor
Vill- Bebeija, P.O. Purana Titabor
Dist. Jorhat, Assam, PIN – 785632

Step 3: Scrutiny of applications by Scrutiny Committee

Step 4: Selection by Advisory Committee based on HS(Sc) marks

Step 5: Publication of merit list in daily newspapers through DIPR, Assam

Step 6: Counselling and seat allotment by Admission Committee

Last Date for Admission: 15th July

Note: Admission to hostel is compulsory for Certificate Course trainees
