Assam GNM Entrance Exam 2026: The Assam GNM Entrance Exam 2026 (GNMEE 2026) is the state-level entrance test conducted by Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences (SSUHS), Guwahati, for admission into the 3-year General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) diploma programme in Government and Private nursing institutes under the Directorate of Health Services, Assam for the academic session 2026-27.

This is the only official gateway for GNM admission in Assam. The latest official seat matrix (released on 25 February 2026) shows 1,390 seats available across 26 recognised Government institutes.

Eligibility Criteria for Assam GNM Admission

To apply for the SSUHS GNM Nursing course, candidates must meet the following requirements:

1. Educational Qualification
  • 10+2 (Higher Secondary): Must have passed 10+2 with English, securing a minimum of 40% aggregate marks and pass marks in English individually.
  • Streams: Candidates from Science, Arts, and Commerce are eligible. However, Science is preferred.
  • Open Schooling: Candidates from State Open Schools or the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) are also eligible.
  • Vocational Courses: 10+2 with English and 40% marks in Vocational ANM or Health Care Science from recognized boards.
  • Registered ANM: Candidates who are already registered ANMs with pass marks can apply.
2. Age Limit
  • Minimum Age: 17 years (as of 31st December 2026).
  • Maximum Age: 35 years.
  • Note: There is no age bar for RANM/RLHV candidates.
3. Residency & Fitness
  • Citizenship: Applicant must be a citizen of India.
  • PRC: A Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) is mandatory for admission into Government Institutes in Assam.
  • Medical Fitness: Candidates must be medically fit to pursue the course.

Assam GNM Nursing Selection Process & Merit List

  1. Entrance Exam: Selection is primarily based on the rank secured in the GNMEE.
  2. Tie-Breaking Rule: If two candidates score the same marks, preference is given to the one with higher marks in English, followed by General Science.
  3. Counseling: Shortlisted candidates must participate in online/offline counseling for seat allotment.
  4. Verification: Original documents (PRC, Marksheets, Caste Certificate) are verified at the time of admission.
