District Courts Recruitment 2025 Assam Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements as of the last date of application submission (July 31, 2025, 5:00 PM):

  1. Citizenship: Must be a citizen of India as defined under Articles 5 and 6 of the Constitution of India.
  2. Educational Qualification:
    • A graduate in any stream from a University Grants Commission (UGC)-recognized university.
  3. Computer Knowledge:
    • A certificate of computer knowledge of at least three (3) months duration.
  4. Language Proficiency:
    • Knowledge of the official language of Assam (Assamese).

Selection Process

The selection process for the Junior Administrative Assistant posts consists of three stages:

Stage 1: Common Written Test

  • Type: OMR-based objective test with multiple-choice questions.
  • Duration: 2 hours.
  • Total Marks: 120 marks, divided as follows:
    • General English: 50 marks.
    • General Knowledge (including Computer Knowledge): 30 marks.
    • General Aptitude: 20 marks.
    • Official Language (Assamese): 20 marks (qualifying in nature; candidates must score at least 40% or 8 marks. These marks will not be counted in the final merit list).
  • Marking Scheme:
    • Each question carries 1 mark.
    • Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer.
  • Shortlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted for Stage 2 in a 1:5 ratio (five times the total posts in a district) based on their written test performance.

Stage 2: Computer Skill Test

  • Total Marks: 35 marks.
  • Components:
    • Computer Typing Test (20 marks):
      • Conducted using typing application software.
      • Candidates will type a paragraph, and marks will be awarded based on speed and accuracy (correct words per minute, WPM).
    • Proficiency Test (15 marks):
      • Tests proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Shortlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted for Stage 3 in a 1:3 ratio (three times the total posts in a district) based on combined marks from the written test (out of 100) and computer skill test.

Stage 3: Viva-Voce

  • Total Marks: 15 marks.
  • Final Selection:
    • The final merit list will be prepared district-wise based on the grand total marks (out of 150) from the Written Test (100 marks), Computer Skill Test (35 marks), and Viva-Voce (15 marks).
    • Tie-Breaker Rules:
      • Candidates with the same grand total marks will be ranked based on higher marks in the Written Test and Computer Skill Test combined.
      • If marks are still equal, preference will be given to the candidate senior in age.
  • Cut-Off Marks: The High Court reserves the right to fix cut-off marks for the written test and computer skill test at a later stage, if required.

Application Process

The application process is online and involves multiple phases. Candidates must submit their applications through the Gauhati High Court website (www.ghconline.gov.in) by following the steps below:

Phase 1: Online Registration

  • Visit www.ghconline.gov.in and click on the “Click here to apply online” scroll on the homepage.
  • Complete the fresh registration process before July 31, 2025, 5:00 PM.

Phase 2: Update Candidate Data

  • Enter all required personal and educational details.
  • Ensure no field is left blank. If data is unavailable, fill as per the instructions provided.
  • Candidates can modify data in this phase until July 31, 2025, 5:00 PM.

Phase 3: Upload Documents

  • Upload the following:
    • Passport Photograph:
      • Format: .jpg, .png, or .gif.
      • Size: 5 KB to 30 KB.
      • Dimensions: 354 x 276 pixels.
      • The candidate’s face must cover at least 80% of the photograph space.
    • Signature:
      • Format: .jpg, .png, or .gif.
      • Size: 5 KB to 30 KB.
      • Dimensions: 118 x 276 pixels.
      • The signature must cover at least 70% of the image space.
  • Use the Browse button to select files, then click Upload Passport and Upload Signature buttons to upload them to the server.
  • Candidates can modify uploaded documents until July 31, 2025, 5:00 PM.

Phase 3: Submit Candidature

  • Verify all details and uploaded images.
  • Check the Declaration checkbox to activate the Submit Candidature button (initially faded and deactivated; turns green upon checking the box).
  • Click Submit Candidature to finalize the application. No further modifications are allowed after submission.

Phase 4: Fee Payment

  • After submission, download the Fee Payment Challan by clicking the “Print Fee Payment Challan Form” button.
  • Pay the fee at any State Bank of India branch (cash only) after two working days from submission and on or before August 5, 2025, during bank transaction hours.
  • The bank will provide a Journal Number upon payment. Ensure the bank official’s signature and seal are on the challan copy.
  • Retain the candidate’s copy of the challan for future reference.
  • Fee payment details (Journal Number, Paid Amount, Payment Date) will reflect in the candidate’s account after two working days.
  • Download and print the Acknowledgement Receipt and application form for records after fee payment.
