Introduction
The Government of Assam has officially amended the Medical Colleges and Dental Colleges of Assam (Regulations of Admission into 1st Year MBBS/BDS Courses) Rules, 2017 through a Gazette notification dated 9th April 2025. These amendments, effective immediately, outline revised quotas, reservations, and documentation requirements for the 2025 academic session. Below is a detailed breakdown:

Key Amendments

NRI Quota (Rule 3A):
- MBBS: 7% of state quota seats (after deducting SC/ST/EWS/OBC-MOBC-NCL seats).
- BDS: Not applicable.
Deleted Clause:
- Rule 4(2)(d) removed from principal rules.
Horizontal Reservation:
- PwD (Divyang): 5% across all categories (SC/ST/OBC/General).

Critical Notes

Non-Availability Clause: Unfilled reserved seats convert to General category.
EWS Certificate: Can be submitted until 1st round of counseling.

- Bank guarantee + Embassy-authenticated documents.
