Gauhati University B tech Admission Important Dates
Candidates must adhere to the following schedule for the admission process:
- Opening of Online Application Submission Portal: June 26, 2026
- Last Date for Online Submission and Fee Payment: July 13, 2026 (up to 11:55 PM)
- Issue of Admit Card (Online): From July 18, 2026 onwards
- Date of Entrance Test (Offline Exam): July 21, 2026 (Tuesday)
- Date of Publication of Results: Last week of July, 2026
GU B tech Admission 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Before applying, candidates must ensure they meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Nationality & Domicile: The applicant must be an Indian citizen and a permanent resident of Assam (must possess a valid PRC of Assam issued by the competent authority).
- Qualifying Examination: Candidates must have passed the 10+2 examination in a single sitting.
- Mandatory subjects: Physics & Chemistry.
- Other Relevant Course for Biotechnology: Mathematics / Biology / Biotechnology.
- Candidates must have passed both theory and practical exams individually.
- Minimum Marks: Candidates must secure a minimum aggregate of 45% (40% for candidates belonging to reserved categories) in the subjects taken together in the qualifying examination (as per AICTE approval process handbook 2024-2027).
- Age Limit: Candidates must not be below 17 years of age on the date of the entrance examination. There is no maximum age limit.
Reservation & Other Categories
Applicants seeking reservations under other categories must carefully follow the instructions provided in the official notification. Candidates are advised to check the University website for specific category-wise reservation policies.
Examination Pattern
The entrance test will be an offline, pen-and-paper exam. The syllabus is based on the Higher Secondary curriculum prescribed by the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC), Assam.
Application Fee
- An application fee of Rs. 1,000/- (Rupees One Thousand only) is to be paid online.
Procedure for Applying Online
Step 1: Registration on the Portal
New applicants must first register on the admission portal.

- Click on the New Registration tab.
- Read the Important Instruction section before proceeding.
- Fill in the student registration form with correct details:
- Full Name of the Applicant
- Date of Birth (Day, Month, Year)
- Correct Mobile Number and Email ID
- Set your account password.
- Enter the Captcha for verification and click on Register.
- An OTP will be sent to your registered Email ID. Enter the OTP to verify your account.
- A success message will be displayed. You can now log in using your Roll Number and the password you created.
Step 2: Complete the Application Form
After registering, login to your account and complete the online application form submission process by following these steps:
- Step 01: Complete your profile details.
- Step 02: Choose the programme you are applying for (B.Tech in Biotechnology).
- Step 03: Pay the prescribed fee (Rs. 1,000/-) online and submit the application.
