Application Process:

  • Apply online at https://gauhati.ac.in or https://admissions.gauhati.ac.in.
  • Last date for application submission will be mentioned on the form.
  • List of eligible candidates for counseling will be published on the GU website and SAMARTH portal after the application deadline.
  • Check the GU website regularly for updates.

🔍 Selection Process

  • Merit-based selection through entrance exam scores
  • Seat allotment during counseling

Admission through JEE (Main)-2025 and CEE (Assam)-2025:

  • CSE, ECE, IT, and RAI:
    • Up to 20% of seats will be filled based on JEE (Main)-2025 ranks through counseling conducted by GUIST.
    • Remaining seats will be filled through CEE (Assam)-2025 counseling conducted by GUIST.
  • Biotechnology:
    • 50% of seats through an entrance test conducted by the concerned department.
    • From the remaining seats:
      • 20% through JEE (Main)-2025.
      • 80% through CEE (Assam)-2025.
  • Counseling schedules will be notified on the GU website.

B.Tech. (Lateral Entry) Admission Process

  • Eligibility:
    • 3-year Polytechnic Diploma or equivalent/B.Sc. in relevant branches.
    • B.Sc. candidates must have studied Mathematics at 10+2 level.
    • As per JLEE (Assam)-2025 norms and AICTE Approval Process Handbook 2024-27.

Admission Criteria: Based on JLEE-2025 ranks through counseling conducted by GUIST. Number of Seats: As per AICTE guidelines, to be notified at the time of admission. Application Process: Details and updates available on the GU website.

Reservation of Seats

  • As per Gauhati University and Government of Assam rules:
    • Scheduled Caste (SC): 7%
    • Scheduled Tribes (Plains) (STP): 10%
    • Scheduled Tribes (Hills) (STH): 5%
    • OBC/MOBC: 27% (including special reservation for Ahom, Tea Garden, Koch Rajbongshi, Chutia, Moran, and Motak)
    • Economically Weaker Section (EWS): 10% in each branch
    • Differently Abled: 1 seat per B.Tech. branch (Total 4 seats)
    • Employee Quota: 1 seat per branch (supernumerary)
    • Ex-Employee Quota: 1 seat across all branches (supernumerary)
    • Fringe Village: 1 seat across all branches (supernumerary)
    • Extra/Co-Curricular (NCC/NSS): 1 seat across all branches (supernumerary)
  • Other NE States: 7 seats (1 seat per state: Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, Manipur) in specified branches.

Application for Reserved Categories

  • For GU Employee, Fringe Village, Extra/Co-Curricular categories, submit prescribed forms to the GUIST office by June 30, 2025.

Documents Required at Admission

  • Self-attested copies of:
    • CEE (Assam)-2025 or JEE (Main)-2025 admit card/scorecard
    • Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC) of Assam
    • HSLC (10th) pass certificate/admit card (proof of age)
    • Higher Secondary (10+2) pass certificate and mark sheet
    • **Diploma/B.Sc. mark sheet and certificate (for Lateral Entry)
    • Caste certificate (SC/ST/OBC, with OBC NCL certificate mandatory for OBC)
    • Gap certificate (if applicable)
    • Documents for other reserved categories
